Sean Lunkenheimer has dedicated over 15 years to the sport of track and field and has experienced much adversity and success throughout his long journey. With many ups and downs, Sean never lost touch with who he was as an individual and always maintained the most positive attitude. As a Sophomore at Old Bridge high school, in New Jersey, Sean realized that he had potential to compete at the collegiate level, so he set high goals and began taking his track and field training regime very serious. Sean earned top places nationally, 3 state titles, school records, and 12 varsity letters, which quickly drew the attention of many college coaches across the country. After a long and emotional recruiting process, Sean accepted a full athletic scholarship to NCAA D1, Wake Forest University, in North Carolina.
While competing as a Demon Deacon for Wake Forest University, Sean quickly became a captain of the team, 5x All-ACC, and a 2x All-American 400 meter hurdler. As a Junior, Sean received 2 knee surgeries which left him with limited range of motion in his right knee for 10 months, and the terrifying thought of never being able to walk correctly, yet alone run again. This rough time in Sean’s athletic career turned into a positive life changing experience.
Sean fell in love with Wake Forest University because of the close-knit track team and the way everyone made you feel like family. If it was not for the amazing coaches, teammates, and training staff, who never left Sean’s side as he battled injury, it is unclear to Sean whether or not he would have ever been able to compete in college sports ever again. Sean knows how important it is to look thoroughly into the coaching staff, team, and have a full understanding on how coaches handle scholarship athletes while experiencing injury.
There is a burning desire within Sean to help high school athletes and their parents through every twist and turn of the recruiting process. Sean makes it his primary goal to connect high school student athletes with coaches at colleges/universities that will provide exactly what they are looking for and allow every student athlete to truly love every moment of their college experience.
Sean always makes himself readily available to high school student athletes, parents, and coaches for their every need. Please feel free to reach out to Sean via email: Sean@theathleticscholar.com
